Your First Visit to Our Hackettstown Practice

You will be warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. Help is on its way!

New patients often remark about how warm and “welcome they feel entering” our office. That’s good, because our goal is to offer state-of-the-art chiropractic care in a comfortable surrounding. So, we ask that you make yourself at home!

Make Yourself at Home

You’ll find plenty of convenient parking and a well-lit parking lot. You’ll be greeted by name when you enter our office. If you’ve already completed your admitting paperwork, great! If not, after doing so, our chiropractic assistant will review in detail the reason for your visit and complete a health history. We will likely show you a short five-minute chiropractic orientation DVD and then you’ll meet Dr. Pete Murray.

We Explain Everything First

The purpose of your consultation with the doctor is to discuss your health goals and see if chiropractic is likely to help you. If it looks promising, a thorough chiropractic examination, including orthopedic and neurological testing, will help identify the cause of your problem. X-rays help to confirm the doctor’s findings; diagnostic imaging can help locate any bone abnormalities, fractures and reveal your spine’s phase of spinal decay.

The importance of each of these tests will be explained to you on your Second Visit, called your Report of Findings. However, it is important to note that this examination procedure helps to scientifically understand the subluxation processes going on in your spine. It also gives us a baseline for future tests so we can accurately measure your progress to see how your spine is correcting and your nervous system is functioning.

After Dr. Pete reviews the exam findings, you will receive your first adjustment. The first visit takes approximately 60-90 minutes.

Dr. Pete Asks some important questions of interest to Hackettstown residents - Chiropractor Hackettstown Dr. Pete Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
What's a side effect?
It may sound like a bonus; something extra, but chiropractors know it should more accurately called an "unintended effect," and "unwanted effect" or in some cases an "adverse effect." A pill can't come close to matching your body's ability to create and deliver the essential compounds it needs. That's when it's important to make sure your nervous system is working correctly—the purpose of chiropractic care!
